Do you like eggplant? Have you tried it lately?

I'm pretty sure I didn't even know what an eggplant was when I was a kid, but now I pretty much love this veggie. Ross found this Middle Eastern Bobby Flay recipe and it was very GOOOOD!

Dress Up

Our friend Josh had a fancy pants wine tasting party last weekend to unveil the new wine room he'd been working on for several months.

We were instructed to wear "formal dress up" in the invitation, BUT Josh did not specify the decade... So, Jolin did some shopping and found us some fabulous dresses for the occasion.

Kenai River Adventures

Here's some pictures from our great weekend on the Kenai River.

Reds

Cata-raft down the Kenai, check. Tent camp in the rain, check. Fish all day, check.  Fun time with Huebel parents and Honas's, check.

I also caught my first Red this weekend, well actually 4 :)

Which is also the reason this post is going to be extremely short. Looooong weekend and little sleep. But we're home and unpacked (ish).  The fish are cleaned, fileted, vacuum sealed, and in the freezer. We also cooked up some fresh fish for a late night snack, there's nothing NOTHING like eating fish a couple hours after catching it!

Girl Day

Jolin and I went for a hike, sans boys, on our flex Friday. What a good way to a) start the day and b) get some much-needed girl time!

We hiked up about 2.5 miles at the Alyeska Resort, then took the ski lift back down.

We did it!

We saw some parachuters trying to run off the mountain and catch the wind.

The Parachuter's had a close attempt here, but there just wasn't enough wind for tack-off.

We followed up our hike with some delicious Yam fries and lunch outside at Jack Sprat. YUM. Worked for food!

Waders

I just got my first pair of fishing waders. Of course there were some color choices to be made at the store for the womens waders...

Time to try 'em out!

We went fish'in in the Kenai River with the Honas clan.  It was also one of the top 5 most beautiful days we've had this summer.

Hike: Gas Line

I'm pretty sure hiking is my favorite Alaska summertime pastime, hence all the hiking and subsequent hiking pictures. It has also given me something else to blog about while our kitchen is being renovated... Still waiting on counter tops!

It was a beautiful day after work and we decided we needed to get outside some more, pup in tow.
